Question by bLAhh b: How should I go about studying ‘Fundamentals of Vehicle Dynamics’ by Gillespie?
I am studying engineering, and ‘Fundamentals of Vehicle Dynamics’ by Gillespie is a prescribed book for my 7th semester. I am however, in my 3rd semester, and since I am very interested in Automotive Engineering, I have already started reading the book, and I’m able to follow it without too much trouble.

However, almost all the problems in the book seem to need the usage of formulas that are complicated in form, and lengthy to derive. And all these formulas are derived like a page before the problem, and since they’re not general formulas, it makes no sense trying to committing them to memory. But should I try to memorize these formulas nevertheless? Because it makes problem solving extremely straightforward, as opposed to long, painful solutions without them. Also, when working as an engineer, what kind of formulas would you have access to, and what sort of problems will you have to solve?

People who’ve studied the book, please help!

try forming study group and then each understand concepts – foundation of all formulas – then share the formula. or ask teacher to give ideas or main formulas. some need to be memorised. all the best
